Stretch marks in pregnancy happen to approximately 80% of women. Some stretch marks fade with time for many women, and for some, they remain long after giving birth. Many call it "the mama marks."
Why does it happen?
As the name suggests, stretch marks often occur wherever there is a change in the shape of the skin when it needs to stretch. In our case, a woman gains weight due to pregnancy. In addition, various hormonal changes cause the skin's middle layer to break and be more vulnerable to multiple issues - including stretch marks.
How can we help? Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective
One safe tool I like to use in my practice and give women to work with at home is the Butterfly Gua Sha.
Gua means 'To scrape.'
Sha means 'Toxins.'
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the stretched, marked skin is viewed as dried and cracked soil. Stretch marks are mainly caused by dryness, qi, blood, and fluid deficiency in the affected area.
Gua Sha can help move blood under the skin's surface, and since blood carries nutrients and oxygen wherever it goes, it nourishes the skin with these substances. As a result, it allows the body to rebuild collagen and 'corrects' the stretched skin, thus minimizing the appearance of the stretched marks.
StrechySkin formula helps with the skin's moistening and nourishing of dry and stretched skin.
I absolutely love the butterfly shape because it's pretty, has numerous angles for different body areas, and is so easy to hold.
The Butterfly Gua Sha is made of a natural Rose quartz stone and not plastic, which some believe has a powerful influence on feelings of calm and love.

How to use Butterfly Gua Sha along with StretchSkin oil at home?
Butterfly Gua Sha is an easy way to work on your skin at home and is meant to use only after delivery and never on a pregnant belly.
- On a clean surface, massage the StretchSkin oil onto the abdomen, hips, and thighs.
- Hold the Butterfly Gua Sha in your hand and scrape the skin gently in one direction to move the blood superficially to help moisten and nourish the skin.
- Do this for about 5 minutes over the affected areas every 2-3 days for at least two months.
- Once you are out of StretchSkin oil, our website offers you to get the refill oil.
Notice:
- It takes about 8-10 weeks to see better results since it takes our body time to rebuild collagen, although many women say they see an improvement sooner.
- Be sure to be gentle with your movement. Slight redness is natural since we intend to help the blood move superficially, and it will usually disappear in a few minutes.
